Plastic Plight!

The Laysan albatross has an impressive 6ft wingspan and can cover ~350 miles in a day, taking short naps while in flight!

They can live >65yrs and at 8yrs will choose a mate that they will keep for life—bonding through an elaborate courtship “dance”.

Sadly, albatrosses often consume bottle caps, beads, pens etc. floating in the ocean; mistaking plastic for food, they then feed these items to their chicks.

The chicks either choke or starve with a stomach full of plastic. This is common in many species and it is estimated that 90% of ALL seabirds have ingested some form of plastic.

You can help save seabirds and other wildlife by recycling, not littering, and choosing reusable alternatives over single-use plastics!
