A Message from the Founder

The Vision:
I started Wez Wildlife to educate people on the world's amazing wildlife! All too often there seems to be a disconnect between science and the general public. I hope to help bridge that gap, making scientific findings and their importance easier to digest for those who do not specialize in biology. I also wanted to find a tangible way of helping to save the animals that I am not directly working with currently, which is why I donate a percentage of all my sales to conservation research of each species featured in my products. Whether it is through speaking, writing, photography, artwork, or apparel, I have made it my mission to share my love of wildlife with the world and impress upon others why conservation is so vital for a properly functioning planet, and the growth and betterment of human society!
The Story:
For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by wildlife. The house that I grew up in was located on the edge of a small canyon teeming with wildlife. So from a very early age I had the opportunity to observe and interact with many different animals. From chasing lizards, snakes, and frogs, to watching coyotes trot past down below, or listening to the multitude of bird calls up above, I couldn't get enough! This is what began to light the spark inside of me, with routine trips to the zoo and watching countless hours of Animal Planet continuing to fan the flames over the years into what is now the burning passion I have for wildlife conservation!
In my career, thus far, I have had the amazing privilege to study and help save (in my humble opinion) some of the most incredible species on earth. I have worked with reptiles, amphibians, and fish native to California; aided in conservation breeding programs for cheetahs, Asian wild dogs, and other threatened carnivores; studied invasive gecko populations in the Pacific islands; and participated in numerous research projects of desert community ecology, habitat management for the Florida Panther, and color pattern diversification in a salamander ring-species complex. I completed my Master's degree, researching how human development has disrupted the nesting ecology and reproductive success of the endangered Turks & Caicos rock iguana (Cyclura carinata). For my Doctorate, I am now studying how human development is impacting the behavior of this iguana.
I truly believe that if we can learn to love, protect, and appreciate the world's wildlife, we will not only conserve the beauty and essential functions of the earth, but also learn to cultivate a deeper love and respect for one another, no matter how different we may appear to be!
Let's save this planet, TOGETHER!
