Giant Giraffes

Giraffes are incredible creatures and everything about them is larger than life; from their 6 foot neck, to their 21 inch tongue, or the 6 foot drop to the ground newborns face when they enter this world. A giraffe’s spot pattern is unique to every individual and they often travel in small groups with around 6 members. They are also remarkably fast given their size and can run up to 35 mph over short distances. Recently, studies have shown that there are 4 distinct species and 9 subspecies. However only one species is officially recognized to date, which is labeled Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
