Picture
The coati uses its long flexible nose to sleuth out invertebrates and fruit among the forests of South America.

Coatis have double jointed ankles, allowing them to walk straight down a tree headfirst!

They sleep, mate, and give birth in the trees, using their tails for balance, but are just as much at home foraging on the ground.

In addition to controlling insect populations, coatis contribute to the ecosystem as seed dispersers for many different plant species.
