Commemorative piece in honor of International Tiger Day! Between the 6 recognized subspecies there are only about 3900 total tigers remaining in the wild, and they inhabit about 6% of their historic global distribution. Numbers are down more than 95% from what they were at the start of the 20th century, mainly due to habitat destruction, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal wildlife trade.
